| Karwood Motorsports was established in 1994, when Jeff Herbers started drag racing in northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri. Jeff competed for three years until the summer of 1997, when he decided to switch to stock car racing. | ![]() |

In the summers of 1997 and 1998, Jeff raced in the Street Stock Division, at Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, Kansas and at Midwest Speedway in Junction City, Kansas. In 1998, Jeff attended 16 of 24 races at Thunderhill Speedway, where he was named Sportsman of the Year in the Street Stock Division. |
| In 1999, Jeff upgraded his stock car and began racing in the Pro-Stock Sportsman Division. He attended 17 of 21 races at Thunderhill Speedway, and had three top five finishes. He finished in the top ten in all of the other 14 races that he finished. That same summer, he attended five races at Midwest Speedway, and boasts two feature wins, with a total of three top five finishes. | ![]() |
| In 2000, Jeff purchased and refurbished an IMCA Modified Stock Car, that he raced at Thunderhill Speedway, Midwest Speedway, and at Boone Speedway in Boone, Iowa. | |

In 2001, Jeff, with the help of pit crew and friends, attended several races throughout the season. Racing all races at Thunderhill Speedway, Mayetta, he finished 6th in points for his first complete season in the modified class. In September, he raced at the IMCA SuperNationals in Boone, Iowa along with 420 other modifieds. Also in the 2001 season, he raced at WaKeeney, KS and Humboldt, KS. |
